Villas Downtown is a revitalized four-block area in historic Excelsior Springs, Missouri comprised of (30) single family homes and (12) historic apartments in four separate City landmark buildings. The development’s planning process included the realization of the city’s DREAM planning process.
Demolition of the blighted, deteriorated homes began and buildings of historic value were restored with the City’s support and collaboration with the non-profit, Downtown Excelsior Partnership. Pedestrian walkways to the tourist and retail district on Broadway and spring pavilions are integrated into this development. A small community center offers office space, as well as public space, for the community.
Villas Downtown won the 2012 Keystone Award for economic development in Clay County.
